What’s at stake
When Yvette Jacob looked out the front doors of her apartment building, she saw her community through the eyes of a homeowner. In 2013, she and her neighbors took control of their quality of life. Two and a half years after their building was put up for sale, having endured years of poor housing conditions, they were ready to call the shots. With LEDC’s support, they purchased the building and became homeowners. When we look outside, we want to see communities that nurture the economic and cultural diversity that help explain why the Washington region is booming. By equipping our clients with skills and financial tools, we’re building the resilience of our community to reap the fruits of development and create a better future for their families and communities.
